Cells was created while an artist-in-residence at the Center for Book Arts, New York, NY, 2012 - 2013. It consists of letter-press printed, hand-cut paper cubes, glue, monofilament, each cube measuring 2 x 2 x 2 in., full dimensions variable by form.
Cells is a mutable sculpture of individual cubes that can be stacked or strung together to explore ideas of cells as both architectural and biological structures. Text printed on the cubes' faces reveal the multiple intentions and consequences of these structures; "colonize, invade, contain, multiply, penetrate, permeate, grow, spread, dominate, propagate, copy, sprawl, overrun, mass, so much everywhere".
